Advanced Clamshell Series for Hip Strength

This series is designed to build hip stability, turnout control, and rotational strength 🔥. By elevating the bottom hip, this advanced clamshell variation becomes a full-body stabilization exercise, engaging your deep core, obliques, and abductors while strengthening your glutes and hip rotators.

This setup ensures that both your working leg and supporting leg stay fully active and controlled — a key element for strong, stable movement patterns.

💪 Muscles Targeted

  • Glute medius → pelvic stability + hip alignment

  • Glute maximus → hip strength + control

  • Adductors (inner thighs) → balance + support

  • Obliques + deep core (TA) → full-body stabilization

  • Hip rotators (internal + external) → turnout control

💃 For Dancers

This series builds the hip strength and stability needed for clean turnout, controlled extensions, and steadier balances. By training both the working and supporting leg, you’ll improve control in développés, arabesques, and turns while protecting your hips and lower back for safer, more powerful movement.
